CRICKET SNOBBERY
MARYLEBONE TEAM RUMOURS DENIED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 12.15 p.m. LONDON, Wed. The “Daily Express’-’ publishes a report from a Sydney newspaper to the effect that amateur aDd professional snobbery is rife in the Marylebone team. It heads the report, “More Propaganda,” and refers (editorially, of course), to the report as untrue. “Snobbery of that kind has long since disappeared from cricket. Unfortunately, there are Australians whose blood-pressure rockets when on the subject of class distinctions, and the supposed prevalence of that in England.” “We need not worry about these rumours from Australia that our men have been guilty of such unmannerly foolishness. They are a mere sample of a kind of propaganda in which some Australians take a curious pleasure.”
