SHIPOWNERS AND WHARFMEN COMPLAINT IN AUSTRALIA Reed. 9.55 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Mr. S. Turley, general secretary of the Waterside Workers’ Federation, declares that out of a total membership of 20,000 In all States, the shipowners have victimised at least 7,000 strikers, all of whom have taken opt licences and are willing to obey the arbitration laws. Yet the shipowners were continuing a policy of “callous punishment.” He wondered whether the Australian people would stand for this kind of thing.
