The results will not be known for some days, as the votes sent in have first to go to the registrar of electors to be certified, and then will be returned to the individual returning officers to be dealt with as an ordinary ballot. These will probably be counted this evening. * * * Latest figures for Christchurch East are: Armstrong, 6,299; Dennehy, 4,074; Informal, 482. WAIKATO DOUBTFUL (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, To-day. Five hundred and fifteen absent voters and 48 postal votes have yet to be counted for the Waikato seat. These may affect the result, as Mr. Lye’s present majority is only 39.

LABOUR HOLDS KEY REV. J. K. ARCHER’S VIEWS Press Association . CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Declaring that Labour is in the key position in. the new Parliament, the Rev. J. K. Archer, national president, says it is quite obvious that Labour will entertain no thought of a coalition or a compromise. “That is but an expression of my personal opinion, because, naturally, I have not consulted members of the executive,” he said. “We shall not, however, adopt a dog-Jn-th-erunanger attitude, and refuse to support any proposition that is brought down for the good of the people generally.” MANY INFORMAL VOTES CARELESS VOTERS’ MISTAKES Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. A feature of the Wellington polling is the large number of informal votes. In* Wellington North there were 262 informal votes, with only two names on the paper; We’lington South, with three names, 123; Central, three names, 136; East, three names, 133; and Suburbs, three names, 102, One explanation offered is that voters were interested only in the Licensing poll ,and never troubled to alter the forms for the political poll.
