PERSONAL.—Captain F. J. G. Warren lias been appointed to command the Kanna, relieving- Captain F. L. G. Jaunay, who is awaiting instructions at Wellington. Mr. F. J. Callan has rejoined the Tamahine as chief officer after holidays, relieving Mr. W. E. Jones, who is standing by at Wellington. Mr. J. Warcup, chief officer of the Kamona, has transferred to the Kaituna in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. H. Evington for holidays. Mr. H. J. M. Kemp is now third officer of the Tamahine. PIRI ARRIVES.—After discharging a cargo of explosives at Maraetai, the Nobel Explosives Company’s Piri arrived at Auckland at six o'clock last evening and berthed at King’s Wharf. LAMB’S OMAN A DUE.—An expected arrival in the stream at Auckland at ten o’clock to-morrow morning is the Lamb steamer Omana with a cargo of hardwood poles from Port Stephens (Australia). The Northern Company is the local agent. PAKEHA AT LONDON.—Cabled news received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company states that the Pakelia arrived at London last Saturday evening from Auckland. The vessel sailed from this port on September 29. GALLIC LEAVES NEW YORK.—A cable message to the Shaw. Savill and Albion Company reports that the Gallic left New York on Thursday last for Boston, Halifax and London, en route from Auckland. The vessel left Auckland on September 26. TAINUI REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, the liner Tainui is expected to arrive at Wellington at 10 p.m. on Sunday from London and Southampton. The vessel has passengers and mails for disembarkation at Wellington and cargo for discharge at Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Bluff. MAI MOA LEAVES LIVERPOOL.—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have been notified by cable that the Maimoa sailed from Liverpool last Saturday with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland' on December 18. L. D. Nathan and Company will be the local agents. TAMAROA LEAVES HOME.—Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that their liner Tamaroa, after loading at London, left Southampton last Friday afternoon with passengers and cargo for Wellington and Auckland. The vessel is due at Wellington on December 13, and at Auckland a week later. JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOM SEASON.—Many independent and inclusive tours are being arranged for Australians and New Zealanders -who desire to visit Japan early next year for the cherry blossom season, which attracts so many visitors from all parts of the world. ’The Australian-Oriental Line’s liner Changte is to leave Sydney on March 20 next connecting at Hong-Kong with the Canadian Pacific steameV Empress of France, 25,000 tons. Calls will be made at Queensland ports, Thursday Island, Philippine Islands, Hong-Kong and Shanghai, and tourists will arrive in Sydney on return on June 2. TRANS-PACIFIC CARGO SERVICES. —-The Waitemata will clear New Plymouth to-day. is due at Nelson to-mor-row, and will go on to Lyttelton and Dunedin, proceeding thence to Vancou- v ver, via Fiji. The Waihemo left Los Angeles on November 9, is due at Auckland on December 4, and will proceed to Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. The Nordhval left San Francisco on November 11 for Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney, and is due at Auckland on December 5. The Sussex, which left Wellington on October 17, arrived at Vancouver yesterday. She is expected to clear Los Angeles early in December for Hobart, Beauty Point, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney. The Wairuna left Fanning Island on November 2 for Vancouver, where she is due on Saturday next. She will proceed thence - to .San Francisco and Los Angeles to complete loading for Papeete. Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. The Waikawa will leave Suva about Saturday next for Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles to load for Napier. -Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and -New Plymouth. The Hauraki will leave Sydney tomorrow for Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

CANOPUS DUE. —An expected arrival in the stream at Auckland this afternoon is the Westport Ccai Company’s collier Canopus with a cargo of coal from Westport. She berths at King’s Wharf to discharge. RUAHINE RADIOS. The -Wellington office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has received a radio message from the liner Ruahine, which left Napier last Saturday for Southampton and London, advising that good weather has been experienced since leaving and all’s well. PORT DARWIN SAILS. The C. and ! D. Line’s steamer Port Darwin left Auckj land last evening for Gisborne, Napier and Wellington to complete her loading for Home. She clears finally on November 23 for London via Panama. SYDNEY STEAMERS. The Ulimaroa leaves Wellington at noon tomorrow for Sydney. The Marama and the Maheno both sail from Sydney tomorrow, the former vessel for Auckland and the latter for Wellington. All the three steamers are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER.— The locdl office of the Canadian National Steamships advises the Canadian High’ander is due at Auckland from Napier on December 3 to complete loading general merchandise for New York, Boston and Montreal. She is to be dispatched for New York the following day. ROTORUA CLEARS PANAMA.—CabIe advice has been received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company that the liner Rotorua, from London and Southampton, arrived at Colon qu ... November 10 and left Panama the following day for Auckland and Wellington. 'She is due here on December 1. HILDA KNUDSEN.—Burns, Philp and Company, Ltd., have received advice that the Norwegian motoi*-tanker Hilda Knudsen is due at Auckland from San Pedro on Saturday. The vessel is under charter to the Atlantic Union Oil Company. She has a full cargo of bulk oil to be unloaded into the company's tanks at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. KAIRANGA LEAVES MELBOURNE.— Advice has been received by the local office of the Union Company that the cargo steamer Kairanga, en route from South Australian ports, left Melbourne, at 2 p.m. yesterday for New Plymouth, Portland, Auckland, Wellington. Castlecliff. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at New Plymouth on . November 20 and at Auckland a week later. OLIVEBANK AT MELBOURNE.—The Finnish four-masted barque Olivebank, which left Seychelles for Auckland on September 10, put into Melbourne yesterday in distress. The crew were all suffering with Beriberi and one man had died of the disease. The vessel has a full cargo of over 3,000 tons of pho.snhntes for Auckland. The date of her arrival is now indefinite. TURAKINA TO LOAD. Advice received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company states the Turakina reached Napier yesterday morning and is to sail for Auckland on Saturday to continue loading for New York, Halifax, London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. The vessel is due on Monday and will proceed to Tokomaru Bav next week to complete loading. VANCOUVER MAIL STEAMERS. The local office of the Union Company advises the following movements of the Vancouver Royal Mail steamers:— The Aorangi leaves Sydney this afternoon for Auckland and is due here on Monday morning. She clears this port at 3 p.m. next Tuesday for Suva, Honolulu. Victoria and Vancouver. The Niagara was to clear Vancouver yesterday via ports for Auckland and Sydney. GLEN EDEN DUE TUESDAY. —Messrs. Robert Millar and Company have received advice that the steamer Gleneden, en route from Java to Auckland with a cargo of raw .sugar, left Cape Moretin yesterday. She is due here on Tuesday, November 20, and will discharge at Chelsea. BEN HOLM RADIOS.—En route from New York to Auckland with a cargo of general merchandise, the steamer Benholm reported this' afternoon to her local agents, the New Zealand Shipping Company, advising that she expects to arrive in the stream at Auckland at 10 o’clock to-morrow evening. BOSWORTH REPORTS.—According to wireless advice received this morning by Messrs. Robert Millar and Company, the steamer Bosworth is expected to arrive at Auckland on Tuesday evening next with a cargo of case oil from Texas. She puts our the local portion of that cargo at Western Wharf and then sails for Wellington and Australian ports to complete. The Anchor steamer Kaitoa arrived at Onehunga this morning from Nelson. ARAPAWA RESUMED.—After being laid up for over two weeks for repairs to her engines, which were damaged when she was crossing the Onehunga Bar on October 25, the Northern Company’s steamer Arapawa is again in commission. She left Onehunga for Wanganui yesterday afternoon.
