PLAZA AND TIVOLI
“GOOD MORNING, JUDGE” “Good Morning, Judge,” the funniest picture Reginald Denny ever made, will be screened this evening at the Plaza and Tivoli Theatres. Denny has long been the screen’s comedian par excellence, but in this Universal picture he reaches the pinnacle of his mirth-provoking qualities. Imagine Denny as a wealthy young man who confesses to the most dastardly crimes so that he may remain in a charity mission for homeless crooks and be near the girl he loves. And all the time the girl is trying to reform him. The star breezes through the role in his usual laugh-winning manner. Audiences have laughed aplenty at him in former pictures, but “Good Morning, Judge,” will arouse a regular cyclone of rib-tickling hilarity . The girl is played by blonde Mary Nolan. Miss Nolan, an importation from U.F.A. in Germany, is already recognised as one of Hollywood’s most beautiful and capable heroines. She is a perfect foil for the irresistible Denny humour. An admirable selection of players are in the supporting cast. Butter and eggs may be dairy products, but the team “butter and egg man” belongs to the theatrical profession. and means, roughly, a poor fool with money to invest. That is the basis of the title given one of the biggest comedy-drama hits the speaking stage has ever presented. A film version of “The Butter and Egg Man,” equally entertaining and a bit more dramatic than the play, will be the second feature this evening and will give a glimpse behind the scenes of play-producing. Jack Mulhall is featured in the title role of this First National picture. Greta Nissen is leading lady in the picture and in the play within the picture. Gertrude Astor, Sam Hardy. William Demarest and other notable film players enact roles of actresses, actors, stage directors, stage producers and other attaches of Broadway play production.
