WITH THE BOY SCOUTS
At All Saints’ Church. Ponsonby, a combined parade of all the Sea Scout Troops, the All Saints' and Herne Bay Land Scouts, and the All Saints’ and Herne Bay Girl Guides was held on Armistice Day.Most of the troops in the district paraded at their various churches. The St. Aidan’s Scouts and Cubs held a parents’ evening on Friday, November 8, at St. Aidan s Hall, Remuera. A number of parents and friends attended.
The Scouts and Cubs gave demonstrations of their activities, signalling, ambulance work, an exhibition of tent pitching, and a camp fire conducted on trek, being performed by the Scouts. There were ' also several musical and elocutionary items by the Scouts and Cubs. _ Miss Molly Bartrom, the new Lady Cubmaster, received her warrant from the Assistant Commissioner for Scouts, Mr. E. B. B. Boswell, who later presented the King’s Scout, Pioflciency and First Class badges won During the evening, Mrs. Houghton, District Cubmaster, who has lately retired from the charge of St. Aidan s Pack, which she founded seven years ago, this being the first Wolf Cub Pack in New Zealand, received an appropriate gift and an illuminated address from the boys. Following this, Mr. George Brownlie, secretary of the Troop Committee, on behalf of the committee, made a presentation of a gold-mounted pencil in appreciation ot her splendid work with the pack. Mr. J. J. Mead, district secretary, was also present at the function. On Sunday, November 11, the troop and pack, comprising 34 Scouts and 24 Cubs, combined in a church parade with the Girl Guides at St. Aidans Church, Remuera, Headquarters being represented by the Assistant Commissioner and District Cubmaster The service was conducted b> tne Rev. H. A. Coleman, and during the first half, the new colours of the Girl Guides were dedicated. During the ' second half, the Rev. R. J. of Ellerslie, delivered an impressive address, taking as his theme the meaning of all Armistice Day. ceremonies.

Displays were given by the Sc°uts and an investiture was conducted by Scoutmaster Morgan. An investiture of Wolf Cubs was also held, the pack being enrolled by Cubmaster Glasgow. Final instruction for Cubs attending the picnic at St. Heliers Bay on Saturdav, November 17, have been issued from District Headquarters as follow; Onehunga Town, Tahutimai and St. Mary’s Packs will parade at Newmarket Post Office at 9 a.m., and will report to Mrs. Roughton. St. Aidan’s Pack will parade at Remuera Post Office at 9.15 a.m. All other packs will parade at the Old Dock site, near the Ferry Buildings, at 9 a.m.. and wall report to Messrs. Gaily and Matheson. Cubmasters are asked to let'Headquarters know whether they are ava.il-
able for the whole day. A pack whose Cubmaster is unable to attend in the morning will be taken charge of by another Cubmaster. In events N”os. 1 and 4. a Cub to be eligible must be under 10 years. Events 2 and 5 are for Cubs of 10 years and over.
