“A WHITE MAN”
MR. D. S. REID’S FIGHTING SPEECH (Special to THE SUN) WAITOA, To-day. Introduced by his chairman, Mr. F. W. Walters, as “a white man,” Mr. D. Stewart Reid, Reform candidate for Waikato, made a fighting speech at Waitoa last evening. The candidate defended the Government policy in protecting and advancing the interests of the farmer. He pleaded for a better understanding between town and country residents. Each was indispensable to the success of the other. -At the close of his speech- Mr. Reid was bombarded with questions from the back of the hall, mostly relating to the operation of the Dairy Control Board. Finally a motion that “We move a vote of thanks to Mr. Reid for his address and declare our confidence in him on Wednesday,” was carried by applause.
