A Good Representative ■ —■—■ \ — 1 Auckland Suburbs — “I admit frankly “that the Labour candidate, Mr. Mason, has “consolidated his position in the last two “and a-half years “that his position over “the whole electorate “is stronger than at the “time of the by“election.” So says the Government candidate, reported in New Z e a 1 a n d Herald, 20/10/1928. In other words, his constituents are highly pleased with their experience of Mr. H. G. R. Mason as their representative, and are not readily disposed to effect a change. When you vote for Mr. H. G. R. Mason you do not have to rely on large promises or other doubtful ground. You are basing your judgment upon the only safe ground—upon experience. And you know that you are retaining for the electorate the knowledge and experience Mr. Mason has gained in the work and which cannot be expected of candidates inexperienced in and strange to it. In this election the Government candidate endeavours to make much of his work performed in the City of Auckland, but why does he not stand for a City seat? He rarely mentions his support of Mr. Coates. In the Eden by-election he said: “I am a follower of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates.” That is true! He is! If you vote Gunson, you vote Coates The United Party always votes “Coates” if Mr. Coates is in danger. They will vote against him sometimes—when it does not matter! If you vote Allen, you vote Coates You with to have a representative whom you know to be an excellent one, and do not wish to take chances with untried men upon the faith of large promises. If you wish to be certain of a good representative you are safe in voting MASON A* and if your vote is against Coates it MUST be Mason!
