A HEALTHY volume of business continues to be registered on ’Change. Interest is spread over a wide range and the market for all the popular securities is firm.

Greater activity is registered in banks. but prices mostly remain round late levels. In the insurance group. New Zealands have seen furt hei business at 47s 6d. An optimistic buyer of A.P.A.’s remains in at 3s (id, but yesterday’s sellers at 8s have withdrawn. South British are somewhat* easier, with sellers at 63s 9d, supported by buyers at 63s 6d. • * * Slightly more interest is being evinced in timbers. Kauris are sought at 19s 3d, Id in advance of the price at the time of the latest sale. Bartholomews, offered at 20s, drew a buyer at 18s at mid-day. * =* * In the miscellaneous group sellers of Colonial Sugars have withdrawn to leave buyers in at £6O. Electrolytic Zincs are very firm, with the preference scrip sought at 34s 9d. Robinson’s Ice Creams show a hardening tendency, sellers withdrawing to leave buyers in at the slightly better price of 21s 3d. Sanfords are also firmer. A wider range of mining quotations was listed this morning, but the ma-

jority of the quotes were only nominal. A feature of the group is the sustained strength of Mt. Lyells and the continued rising tendency of the market.
