EMPEROR’S CORONATION
KING’S MESSAGE TO JAPAN UNITED IN FRIENDSHIP British Official Wireless Reed. 12.15 p.m. RUGBY, To-day. The following message has been telegraphed by the King to the Emperor of Japan: “On this auspicious day of your Imperial Majesty's enthronement in the seat of your august ancestors, I hasten to offer you my most cordial wishes that you may enjoy a long and prosperous reign, made happy by the abiding loyalty and ever-increasing affection of your people, who are so closely united with my own by ties of friendship, mutual understanding and joint endeavour in the cause of civilisation and progress.”
UNIQUE RITES '•§.} PREPARATIONS AT KYOTO (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) TOKYO, Friday. Kyoto is profusely decorated in honour of to-morrow’s most important coronation ceremonies, and is overflowing with visitors. Princes, nobles, officials,, diplomats and representatives of other States have gathered to witness the unique rites, besides the millions of loyal subjects who have assembled on the great occasion. The Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako attended a dress rehearsal of their enthronement to-day. The Cabinet will carry cut its duties at Kyoto until November 17.
