N 1 The Auckland Executive of the New Zealand Bible in Schools League commends the following resolutions to the earnest-attention of all Christian electors and urges them, other things being equal, to give support at the forthcoming Parliamentary Poll to those Candidates who are in favour of the Reintroduction of the Bible and the Lord’s Prayer into the curriculum of the State Schools:— 1. Realising that the moral and spiritual welfare of a community is of greater importance than any party interests of any political organisation and that primary consideration in voting should be given to the highest well-being of the children, the League Executive calls on all supporters seriously to view the high responsibilities of the franchise aiid the duties of Christian citizenship a*nd to redouble their efforts to secure the election of Parliamentary candidates who have in the past consistently voted—or who will pledge their support in the future—for the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill, a Bill that has behind it the overwhelming weight of public opinion. 2. It also reminds all who uphold the national system of education that the provisions of the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill make no new departure in education, being associated with national systems in many other parts of the world, and are, in fact, already well established in the Secondary Schools of New Zealand. That the Secondary School system of opening with religious exercises should be extended to Primary Schools should occasion no distrust or fear. A.W. NEW ZEALAND, President, N.Z.
