At present he has a dairy farm at Papatoetoe, and was elected a ; member of the first Papatoetoe Town ; Board over ten years ago. After his term of office as a member of the Board he was unanimously elected to the position of chairman. In a fast growing community such as Papatoetoe, demands for m-ore up-to-date facilities in all matters became apparent, and recent years have seen the change from a semi-rural stage to that af a flourishing suburban community. Such has been liis administrative ability that by a conservative policy, improvements have been effected without excessive raising of loans.

Mr. Ebenezer Allan who is contesting the Hauraki seat in the United Party’s interests, is a seed grower and merchant, residing at Buckland. He is a Scot, and was educated at the High School of Dundee. For 20 years he was the manager of Yates’ Seed Farms at Mangere, Buckland and Karaka, and for 12 years he has been in business on his own account. Mr. Allan, as chairman of the Manykau County Conference, was largely instrumental in the formation of the Franklin and Manukau County Council. He is an active worker in public affairs and an effective platform speaker. Mr. Allan is president of the Franklin A. and P. Society.
