AUCKLAND CENTRAL

Mr. W. E, Parry, M.P., arrived in New Zealand from Australia about 22 years ago, and was elected president of the Waihi Miners’ Union, and subsequently appointed Workmen’s Inspector. He held the position of vicepresident of the Federation of Labour, and later was appointed National Secretary of the Miners’ Federation. He was elected to represent Auckland Central in Parliament in 1919, and has held the seat continuously since that year. Mr. Parry has fought strenuously for 20 years on behalf of the workers, both outside and inside of Parliament, and at a time when His Majesty’s Opposition was not the force in politics that it is to-day.

ri Mr. Lysnar’s extensive experience in 2 public life includes past chairman of the Cook County Council and Gisborne t Harbour Board, 14 years a governor of - the Gisborne High School Board, and - 16 years a member of the Gisborne - Hospital Board. \ Mr. Lysnar was sheep-farming for “ many years and still retains an interest in farming through his Waioru station. His interests are now closely centred upon Auckland Central (in which district he was born), and he “ has been a resident of Parnell for the past two years. s Mr. Lysnar is a brother of Mr. W. e D. Lysnar, M.P. for Gisborne for many years past.
