“HIT THE DECK”
BRIGHT MUSICAL COMEDY “The Girl Friend” made a host of acquaintances here, but now the company has ‘“Hit the Deck,” His Majesty’s is fuller than ever. In many ways the second production is even brighter than the first. It is a nautical extravaganza, which begins in a Plymouth coffee house and goes to Shanghai and back to get humorous situations and pretty musical numbers. The musical numbers headed by the famous “Hallelujah” chorus are catchy and tuneful and the whole show is staged in lavish scale. Miss May Beatty makes a great hit as Magnolia, the coloured lady, who sings “Hallelujah.” with such fire and force. Miss Annie Croft is outstanding as she was in “The Girl Friend” for her sweet presence, her delightful dancing and her mellow voice. Reg. Sharland, Gus Bluett, Leo Franklyn, Les Donagliey and all the other humorists pulled strongly together to make “Hit the Deck” go with a swing. “Hit the Deck” will make its final appearance on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday and Thursday nights the company -will go to Hamilton.
