FILM WORK IN THE TROPICS
Every day is wash-day in the South Seas according to Monte Blue and other members of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer company who made •’White Shadows in the South Seas” at Papeete. “In the rainy season,” says Blue, “all you have to do is carry a bar of soap. Whep it begins to rain, you stop under a palm tree and soap your clothes. You then step outside and in a minute the torrents of rain will rinse them for you. Ten minutes later the sun comes out and in another five minutes you are dry.” “White Shadows in the South Seas” was directed by W. S. Van Dyke and the only other white members of the cast besides Blue are Raquel Torres c and Robert Anderson.
