ROTORUA ORPHANS’ CLUB

The Rotorua Orphans’ Club held the final evening of the 1928 season in Dixieland on Thursday evening, when ladies were present. There was a large attendance, visitors being present from Auckland, Hamilton, Morrinsville and Gisborne Clubs. Bro. W. Hill presided and welcomed the visiting brethren. Bro. White, Gisborne, replied on behalf of the visitors. Bro. E. E. Harvey proposed the toast of “The Ladies,” coupling it with the name of Mrs. J. N. McLean, the Mayoress, who responded for the ladies. An excellent musical programme was arranged by Bro. H. J. Sanders, items being given by the club’s orchestra, Messrs. G. Holder (Auckland), L. Echlin (Morrinsville), J. Battersby (Hamilton), Miss Jean Pearce and Mrs. Alcorn (Putaruru).
