BOOKIE FINED £2 “VERY CHEEKY AFFAIR” Lawrence Bartholomew Lorrigan, who took tote odds at Avondale on Saturday, was fined £2 at the Police Court this morning. Chief-Detective Hammond described L,orrigan's system as very cheeky. “Lorrigan has attended two or three race meetings lately,” he said. “He stands under the tote and takes silver bets.” In reply to Mr. F. K. Hunt S.M., Mr. Hammond said that Dorrigan, who was a married man, was not in a very big way. “Will you give this up if 1 give you a chance?” asked the magistrate. Lorriean replying that he would. Mr. Hunt told the chief-detective that, although he had imposed a light fine this time, he would know what to do if Lorrigan came up again.
