ROAD SCHEME REVISED
REDUCTION IN GRANT WHANGAREI EMBARRASSED (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI. To-day. Owing to the reduction to JE4.000 of the Main Highways Board contribution to the Whangarei county, the Council, at a meeting to-day. had to reconsider the original scheme f*'r the tar surfacing of the four main highways radiating from Whangarei. Cr. J. H. Hayward was strongly of opinion that they should put concrete on one highway only, fid extend the work over three years to accommodate their available funds. Further discussion was postponed until next meeting.
