APPLES SELL WELL ISLAND ORANGES FEWER On the City Markets, large quantities of local apples have sold well this week. ISLAND oranges are now almost finished. Supplies of oranges for Christmas will have to come from Australia. Prices at present are high. Strawberries are coming forward in larger quantities. The inquiry is brisk. Tlothouse tomatoes are fairly plentiful. Local lemons are still dull of sale. The demand for pears is fair. To-day, the vegetable market was well stocked in all lines. Poultry is in heavy supply. Competition is spirited for firstquality young cockerels. Ducks are in over-supply, and values are only fair. Pig rates have dropped. Baconers bring £3 Cs to £3 18s; porkers, £2 to £2 10s; slips, 17s to £1 6s; weaners, 6s to 12s 6d.
