The Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lady Alice Fergusson, accompanied by Captain On'-Ewing and Miss Dugdale, arrived at Timaru by special train yesterday, and left later for Mount Cook Hermitage, where they will remain for 10 days.— r. a. Sir George Elliot left for 'Wellington by the Limited last evening. Dr. Alister Young was a passenger for the South by the Limited last evening. Dr. T. McKibbin, director of public hygiene, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. S. Martin, of the inquiry branch of the Auckland railway booking office, is at present oil annual leave. Professor F. P. Worley, who has been on a. visit to Wellington, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Canon Percival James, who has been visiting Palmerston North, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited. Mr. G. Gore, a member of the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, has arrived in Auckland to give an official farewell to the British lawn tennis team, which leaves for Sydney tomorrow.
