GIRLS MOB FILM STAR

Mr. John Stewart, the British film star, was mobbed by hundreds of girls as he was leaving the Film Stars’ Circus at the Foundling Hospital grounds, Guilford Street, London. He lost part of his clothing to souvenir hunters. He said: “Several buttons were torn off. my hat, handkerchief, and tie snatched away, my pocket ripped open and coat torn, apparently for souvenirs. They were all girls in the crowd. I finally got away through a back door, disguised in an overcoat, muffler and cap.” During the day Mr. Stewart signed more than 1.000 photogi-aph postcards of himself, which were sold for the film charities benefiting by the circus.
