POWER FOR OPOTIKI

ADVANCE OF ELECTRICITY CHANGE-OVER THIS MONTH (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, To-day. The Bay of Plenty Power Board hopes to have the Opotiki Borough change-over completed this month, when Messrs. Leets Bros.’ plant will be closed down. % There were 13 shut-downs in the Public Works supply during the month, the worst being at the end of last month, the power being cut off for about 18 hours. This was due to a break in the line in the Rotorua area, which was caused by lightning. It is hoped to have the service lines in the Rangitaiki area completed at an early date. Power is now being supplied to the Matata township. Although the power has only been available four months, no less than 138 ranges are now in operation, this representing about a-third of the total number of householders. Milking plants numbering 404 have been booked, and the total amount guaranteed has now reached the satisfactory figure of £17,629.
