The touring team also played some exhibition matches, and a large number of spectators enjoyed the games. The British team played eight matches against local men without losing a set. Results: Singles.—U. W. Austin beat P. H. Jones, 6—o, 6 —2;.J. C. Gregory beat E. Howell, 1 6 —2, (j—2; C. Collins beat P. Howell, 6 —l, 6 —l; E. Higgs beat T. W. Turei, 6—l, 6—l. Doubles.—Gregory and Austin beat Jones and E. Howell, G —2. 6—2; Collins and Higgs beat P. Howell and Turei, 6—o, 6—l. In a match against Dr. Laurenson and Dr. Gray, Gregory and Austin won, 2s —0, 6—2. Collins and Higgs defeated two Rotorua players, N. Smith and Thompson, 6—l. 6—o. An exhibition match, Higgs and Collins v. Gregory a ndAustin. was also played.
