POLL RESULT GAZETTED BOARD IS NEXT STEP (Spt dal to THE SUN) WELLINGTON. To-day. The results of the polls taken in Auckland last week on the Transport Board are appearing in the Gazette to-day. The Transport Act will operate immediately. This means that the next step is the setting up of the Transport Board, and the election of the chairman, after which the board takes over the tramway and bus undertakings for the whole of the metropolitan area. The Act provides that within one month of the coming into operation of the Act the City Council and suburban bodies shall hold special meetings for the purpose of electing the members of the board. The board will consist of ten members, including the chairman. Six will be nominated by tlio City Council, and two each by two groups of local bodies. Mount Eden. Mount Albert and Newmarket being ono and Onehunga. One Tree Hill. Mount Roskill. Mount Wellington and Ellerslie the others. The board takes over the undertaking as from April 1 last.
