NEW REGENT
BIG PROGRAMME COMING “Warming up,” the breezy comedy of the American baseball game with Richard Dix as a-star player, will be shown at the New Regent Theatre for the last times this evening and tomorrow evening. Only two more evenings remain to see Mardo and Wynn, the clever English comedy duo, whose act with their bulldog, Teddy, has been described as one of -the finest comedy novelties on the stage. On Friday next an entire change of programme will be presented, including a new and finer stage band presentation, complete with* a dancing show by Mr. Maurice Diamond. The most outstanding ballet in Australia to-day is Maurice Diamond”s Regent Ballet. Many of these girls were with Mr. Diamond in the original productions of “Sunny,” “Tweekie,” gmd “The Student Prince,” at the Empire Theatre, Sydney. Each girl is an individual artist, and in the hands of a dancing instructor like Maurice Diamond their work is something that will be long remembered. One beautiful presentation that will be included in the stage band presentations will be the evolution of terpsichore in silhouette, a most artistic creation, introducing the minuet, the old-time waltz, cake walk, the black bottom and the varsity stomp. The new picture on Friday will be “Ladies of the Mob,” a fine and dramatic underworld story in which the leading roles are taken by Clara Bow and Richard Arlen, who were seen together in “Wings.” The new musical programme will, of course, be in the hands of Mr. Maurice Guttridge.
