LONG DAY’S CRICKET

PROTEST FROM UMPIRES GAMES TO FINISH AT 6.30 A.C.A.’S LATEST DECISION The question of the time for cessation of play in A.C.A. cricket was reviewed by the Management Committee last evening, when it was decided that play should cease at 6.30 p.m. and that the tea adjournment be deleted. This decision was arrived at following the receipt of a letter from the ■Umpires’ Association stating that it wast the unanimous opinion of members that 6.30 p.m. should be the latest time for closing in the club matches. At present all the pleasure was taken out of the game owing to the belated finish of matches, and the rest of the evening was spoilt. Several members of the Management Committee supported the umpires’ view. Mr. Miller said that if a vote were taken among the players, an overwhelming number would be in favour of 6.30 p.m.
