VISITING TENNIS PLAYERS LOSE THEIR CLOTHING
THIEVES AT STANLEY STREET Two of the visiting British tennis players, Alessrs. I. G. Collins and H. W. Austin, were robbed of a quantity of their gear when thieves broke into the pavilion at the Stanley Street tennis courts. Shoes, socks, blazers, shirts and trousers were among the goods stolen, but fortunately no rackets were left in the pavilion. Several lockers were broken open, including that of the secretary, Air. L. W. Swan. A bell tent, valued at £l2 10s, was also stolen from the courts. It belonged to the caretaker and had been used during the tournament. During the remainder of the tupr Alessrs. Austin and Collins will not be able to wear their blazers, as new ones are not obtainable in New Zealand. Those stolen bore the crests of the universities at which the Englishmen had played.
