WELCOMED AT OTTAWA
HIGH COMMISSIONER FROM BRITAIN fAustralian and N.Z. Press Association) OTTAWA, Sunday. Sir William Clark. British High Commissioner to Canada, was officially welcomed last evening at a Government dinner. The Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, srtid the appointment was by far the most important step yet taken to- further effective consultation and co-operation between the Government of Britain and that of Canada, which would have resultant benefits to both countries. What was even more important, it would beuefit the unity of the Empire as a whole. It. was the most effective means so far devised of semiring the Crown against being involved in any possible controversy which might arise between the different Governments of which his Majesty is the head. If closer relations between the Governments of the Empire and the maintenance of its unity through the securitj' of the Crown were what they all desired, might they not truly say that here they found the most sure as well as the latest development to that end?
