RUMANIAN CRISIS

The Rumanian crisis, brought about by the resignation of the Prime Minister, M. Vintila Bratiano, is due to the Regency Council’s insistence on the formation of a National Government in which all parties will be represented. • Excitement prevailed, as it was j feared that if M. Bratiano refused, the Peasant Party would try to force the overthrow of his regime, i The Peasants’ Party recently (Lej manded free elections, declaring that i the Government was in power solely ! through dishonest manipulation of the ! franchise. The Government's announcement that negotiations for a stabilisation ! loan had been concluded caused the Peasants’ leader to declare that the mobilisation of their forces was proceding and they intended to lay seige on the Government before. A message from Bucharest states that the Rumanian Regency Council has accepted the resignation of the Prime Minister, M. Bratiano. The leader of the Peasants’ Party, M. Julius Maniu, will, it is expected, he invited to form a coalition Ministry.
