PHILISTINES CLUB
SEASON’S LAST REVEL RECORD ATTENDANCE For their final “revel” of 19-S the Philistines Club had a record attendance of both members and visitors on Saturday night. A particularly attractive programme was presented, and the audience was kept in fine humour by Air. 11. E. Gillespie, who, according to Philistine custom, occupied the chair for the last meeting of the season and read the current number of the “fcScorpion,” the official organ of the club, “published once a year by, for, and at the Philistines.” A humorous sketch, “Jealousy,” was presented by Air. Sharpe and Aliss Freda Crosher, and Aliss Kathleen Coleman gave an admirable interpretation of “Answering an Advertisement.” A novel and pleasing item was the singing by Aliss Etta Field and Air. Ernest Snell, in costume, of several duets from “The Student Prince.” Air. Frank Sutherland’s stirring songs, “Beating Up the Channel” and “The Sergeant-Alajor on Parade,” were also well received. "The Snappy Three” were as popular as ever, and their item developed into a “community sing” when the well-known “Ramona” was played.
