CHEMIST FOR DOMINION

INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. The latest addition to the staff of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research will leave England by the liner Remuera on November 23. This is Mr. Phillip White, whose appointment as research chemist to the Leather Investigation Committee is announced by the Public Service Commissioner. Mr. White, who has had long experience in laboratory work connected with the leather industry, has acted in a managerial capacity in various bx'anches of the tanning industry, so that he is experienced both in its scientific side and in practical administration. He comes from the North of England and holds an M.Sc. degree. His work in the Dominion will be i under the committee recently formed ; by the leather trade and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, and 'before leaving England he will commence investigation work there.
