BROKEN PLEDGES

REFORM’S PAST TRAIL MR. G. C. MUNNS’S CRITICISM When he appeared before a large attendance at St. Leonard’s Hall last evening, Mr. G. C. Munns, United candidate for Roskill, gave a brief address and did not attempt to delve deeply into statistics. Rather, he confined himself to a criticism of the Government’s handling of land development, and to an outline of his party intentions. The Coates Government, he said, had left behind it a trail of broken pledges. The Government had declared that it was out to prevent land aggregation, but he did not know of any big estate being broken up. It was a crime for a man to get a grip on first-class land; development was hindered.

At the conclusion of his address Mr. Munns answered a number of questions and was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence, which was carried unanimously.
