RIALTO, AND REGENT, EPSOM

“HARD-BOILED HAGGERTY”

.. Hard-Boiled Haggerty," a story of thrills and laughter, of the Jife of a wartime aviator, will be shown at the Rialto and Regent Pjsom Theatres this evening. Milton Sills is the star.

This picture provides a unique c h a r a c t erisation for Sills. Grim, relentless and heroic “ace” in sky battle above the German lines, he goes back to Paris to celebrate each victory. And in Paris—what a difference environment makes!

It is behind the lines in the colourful. war-frenzied city of joy, that Sills practises “unbecoming conduct.” He is pranksome and humorously insubordinate. and gets into no end of trouble, until he meets romance in the person of a mysterious French girl. Molly O’Day enacts the leading feminine role. “Something Always Happens,” is the second feature. This is a story of mysterious happenings in a haunted house, with Esther Ralston and Neil Hamilton as the leading players. “THE SHOW BOAT” CHOOSING THE CAST The first news regarding Universal’s “Show Boat” cast, which has been a topic of conversation ever since the studio purchased the screen rights of the Edna Ferber novel, comes with an announcement by Carl Laemmle that Alma Rubens has been signed to play the part of Julie. Miss Rubens, in the opinion of the director, is perfectly suited for the role. She also has an excellent speaking and singing voice, which will be necessary, as it is planned to make the film with sound effects. Emily Fitzroy has been given the role of Parthenia Hawks, the mother of the “Show Boat” heroine, Magnolia. The two principal roles of Magnolia and Ravenal have not been cast as yet, but it is expected the names will be announced shortly. Difficulty has been encountered in selecting the players as they must have good voices in addition to being suitable for their roles. Because of the admitted importance of the picture and the prominence of each part, great curiosity has been aroused regarding the cast.
