Costly Speech

OTTAWA to CARDIFF

(United FA. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1.35 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. A 12-minute speech costing £2s' a minute was sent by wireless telephony from Ottawa to Cardiff by the Minister of Trade and CcMnmerce, the Horn James Malcolm, on the occasion of the Empire Exhibition at Cardiff, where Canada is the biggest single exhibitor. The speech was telephoned from Ottawa to New York, whence it was sent by wireless from Rocky Point and picked up in Fifeshire. It was then transmitted by land line to London, where it was amplified and sent on to Cardiff, where it was heard perfectly. Five thousand visitors attended the exhibition.
