“WARMING UP”
Pictures and vaudeville are the attraction at the New Regent Theatre this evening. The first items on the programme are the bright and interesting features, such as comedies and gazettes, that evervon© enjoys. These are followed by a" unique item that can certainly be called the last word in comedy novelty. This is the appearance of Mardo and Wynne, and Teddy, their talking bulld°The Stage Band presentation has proved such a. success that a big company coming oyer from Sydney will open here on Friday week. The main pictorial attraction is “Warming Up,” a sporting picture dealing with the American game of basketball. _ The popular actor, Richard Dix, will be seen in the role of a star baseball player named Tulliver who is the pride of a team known as the Euraka Bearcats. He has a private feud on with one Mcßae of an opposition team known as the Green Sox and at the same time falls badly in love with Mary, who unfortunately is the daughter of Mr. Post, the owner of the Green Sox. # Tulliver secures a job as a demonstrator at an amusement park, and attracts the attention of Post, who tells him to report for practice with the Green Sox. Meanwhile, Tulliver has developed his acquaintanceship with Mary, whom he knows as Miss Zilch,” the child’s governess, .and agrees to visit her in the kitchen of the Post home. He is unaware that Mcßae is seriously interested in Mary. With such situations and with such a virile player as Richard Dix. the speed and colour of the story can well be imagined, , „ An excellent musical programme has been arranged by Mr. Maurice Guttiridge and his Regent Operatic ! Orchestra.
