By “XOOX CALL" rAVY Trading has been recorded on 'Change over the past 24 hours. Insurances are particularly firm.
The banking group is quiet, showing little movement. Insurances, on the other hand, are very firm, registering a general upward tendency. South British show an advance of 6d, sales being recorded at 635. New ZeaTands moved to new high levels this morning when the scrip was dealt with
outside the call room at 46s 3d. Nationals, in sympathy with the Southern market, where sales were made yesterday at 16s lid. are firmer, buyers at 16s 6d faiilng to draw' a response from sellers.
One of the principal items of interest in the loan and agency group has been the announcement from Wellington of Dalgety’s profits for the year ended June 30, 4928. The figures constitute a record, being well in advance of the record year ended 1925. A steady 17 per cent, dividend has been paid by this company since 1924. Another report relative to farmers’ concerns is to the effect that the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Co., Ltd., a company with an authorised capital of £ 1.000,000, is to join with those other New Zealand concerns which have written-off capital. Shareholders in the concern are to be asked to consider the auditors’ proposals at an early date.
Wilsons Cements have been the principal attraction in the miscellaneous group, and several parcels • hanged hands in the call-room this morning at 40s. This is slightly below'
yesterday’s Southern market at 40s 2d. i Sanfords have a slightly better tone, ■ buyers improving to 18s at the midday call, with sellers firm at 19s 6d New Zealand Refrigerating (con.), are ! also slightly firmer. Following the unfavourable reports : from the Morere bores, Taranaki Oils I are neglected. It is interesting to note ; in this connection that the Coal Oil ■ (N.Z.), Ltd. people have crossed the Tasman in an endeavour to raise more capital with which to exploit their New r Zealand leases. A new issue of £ 100.000, made up of £ 1 shares, is sought.
