“FAKED” REPORTS
UNITED CANDIDATE’S ALLEGATION INTERJECTOR SHEDS LIGHT Though the official year book shows no money paid for assistance to mining, an interjector at Mr. E. McGregor’s meeting at Paeroa said he had been receiving assistance. The candidate, who is standing m United interests, had said that in the last five years of the YVard administration £83,543 had been paid for mining assistance, but the four years of Coates administration showed nothing. The speaker said the only conclusion he couhl draw from the interjector’s remarks was that the Government was “faking” its reports to Parliament. In reply to a question Mr. McGregor said he would vote against the Government on any vote of no-con-fidence. The candidate agreed that the Main Highways Act introduced by the present Government was good legislation. He agreed that the Paeroa-Pokeno railway was necessary, but he thought a double-way concrete road would be better, or at least worthy of full investigation. / A vote of thanks and confidence in the candidate was carried.
