NEW RAILWAY LINE FACTOR FOR PEACE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 1.45 p.m. PARIS, Tuesday. International importance attaches to the inauguration of the new railway from Nice to Cuneo, which will reduce the distance from Nice to Turin by 60 miles. The new line, which passes through the Alps, includes tunnels totalling 15 miles. M. Tardieu, in opening the line, pointed out that it was originally planned for military purposes, but would be used for peaceful commerce. He hoped that it would help France and Italy to know each other better.
