BEAUTY CONTEST EXPERT
It’s hard to win a beauty contest as almost any girl will admit, but it * a whole lot harder to win two beautv contests and a stupendous feat to win three. Barbara Kent, youthful Universal player, has done the almost impossible by winning three in a row If there is any further proof required that Miss Kent, who plays the leading feminine role in “Stop That Man,’’ c Universal-Jewel production, is beautiful, then the person who requires it should come to Hollywood and see her in persoa. And the three contests were won on merit alone, as Miss Kent got ever one of them before she had even taker her first screen test. Her contests were won in Santa Cruz, California Los Angeles and Hollywood. s. Universal hastened to sign her to a motion picture contract. The popular nigger stories of Ocu>vus Roy Cohen, which have for years been a feature of the “Saturday Evening Post,” have been bought as material for future Paramount-Christie comedies, which will be woven around the life of the well-known negro characters. The pictures will be synchronised with dialogue.
