WAITOMO POWER BOARD
The Waitomo Power Board met at. Te Kuiti on Monday evening - , Mr. W. A. L»ee presiding. Tfte question of depreciation was brought up by the chairman, who said that no relief had been provided ill the Washing-up Bill last session. Numerous power boards were affected in this matter. Mr. L,ee thought that a power board, in its initial stages, was not in a position to set aside money for depreciation. On the motion of Mr. Gorton, it was decided that the matter of obtaining redress should be pursued through the Power Boards’ Association when Parliament resumed. Any legislation in connection with the .matter should be made retrospective. A resolution was carried that a deposit of 10s should be mlade by new tenants as security against leaving premises without notice. The tender of Mr. R. Bell, of £1,019, for the erection of oifices at Otorohanga, was accepted. Two other tenders, £1,037 and £ 1,074, were received. The seere jry's report stated that cash receipts for 'September amounted to £1,400 6s sd. A member thought that the cost of auditing the books of the. board—which it was anticipated w r ould be in the vicinity of £loo—was “a big amount.” The secretary stated that the auditors had carried out a meticulous audit. In view of recent happenings, several members were of opinion that a thorough auditing was necessary. It was decided that the services of the lady demonstrator be retained for a further period owing to the increasing sales of electric stoves and appliances.
