King Smock, a lazy track worker, took 1.6 1-5 from the five-furlong disk. The Begum, bearing a bright appearance, was not after time. Serang and Nassock just broke 38 in a three-furlong dash, and Maori Boy took 39 1-5 for three furlongs. A number of others were out, but were mainly at useful pace only. Abbey Queen, who finished right up behind the dead-heaters.
