ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

WORK DURING THE YEAR APPEAL FOR FUNDS During the past year the members of the St. John Ambulance Association and ESrigade have done a very large amount of work in accordance with their motto, “For the -service of mankind.”

The district nurses have paid 7,161 visits to the sick poor in their homes, and have given relief to 756 outpatients at the ambulance station. These services are given without charge to those who require the services of a trained nurse, but are without the means to pay for it. The ambulance officers have removed 1,243 patients to the hospitals or their homes, and have rendered first aid to 2,763 patients at the Queen’s Wharf ambulance station. The distance travelled was 10,982 miles. There is a fleet of four up-to-date ambulances always available, day or night. Members of the brigade have rendered first aid to 8,982 persons Who were sick or injured at sports meetings, public gatherings, or in the streets. During the year 1,165 persons have been trained in first aid or home nursing. To maintain the services for another year the sum of £1,600 is required, and an appeal Is being made for funds. Donations may be sent to Mr. C. J. Tunks, Mr. F. J. Hutchinson, or Mr. W. Rattray; at*the Ambulance Station in Rutland Street.
