Carrying 301 saloon and steerage passengers and Australian mail, Including 154 bags for Auckland, the Ulimaroa arrived from Sydney to-day and berthed at 2 p.m. Fine weather was encountered throughout the crossing.
Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of J. C. Williamson Films (N.Z.), Ltd., returned to New Zealand after a three weeks' visit to Australia. He says that talking films will be installed simultaneously in the big Sydney -and Melbourne cinemas early next year. “Four machines are now on their way out.” he told a Sun representative. ‘‘So far 24 have been ordered, and they will come at the rate of two a month. The demand for machines is so great that it is impossible to get earlier delivery.
Messrs. F. N. Ambler and P. S. Bartlett, of Ambler and Co., Ltd., Auckland, turned after a business visit to Australia, during which they visited the principal Australian clothing factories.
Messsr. F. F. Ford and H. F. Churton were among the New Zealand passengers who returned to Auckland. They have been on a business and holiday visit to Sydney.
Mr A. A. Campbell, Australian and Ne t ' Zealand sales manager for the Massev Harris Co., arrived for his annua? visit to agents throughout the Dominion. , » •

A Yorkshire girl who lied from amateur ranks to sudden stardom, she has had big parts in West End theatres, culminating in the great fun of "MV Son John” at Shaftesbury. She is keen on fishing and sailing and is fresh from triumphant shark-fishing in Sydney's blue waters.
