ZEPPELIN PASSES OVER CAPE COD RETURN ..FLIGHT TO BERLIN (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) Reed. 1.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Mon. A message from Chatham, Massachusetts, says that the Zeppelin LZI27, which left New Jersey 1.54 a.m. to-day, on her return flight to Germany, passed over the town at 6.35 a.m. and headed out to sea. It is expected that the commander, Dr. Eckener, will follow the northern Great Circle course, and that he will complete the flight in 50 hours. Sixty persons are on board the airship, including seven passengers, one of whom is a woman. The Zeppelin is expected to berth at Friedriehshafen on Thursday morning. Reports show that there are good weather conditions over the Atlantic. The airship has a following wind for the first half of the voyage, hut later may encounter a westerly gale with clouds and rain.
The town of Chatham stands on the Atlantic Coast at the south-eastern point of Cape Cod Peninsula. It is nearly 250 miles from Lakehurst in a direct air-line to Berlin. PLANE FORCED DOWN LANDED IN MUD BERMUDA FLIGHT DELAYED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) NEW YORK, Sunday. Late to-night a message from Atlantic City, New Jersey, said that the plane in which Captain Lyon and Captain Lancaster, with Mr. G. P. Putnam as a passenger, were attempting to fly to Bermuda, had been forced down near there in shallow water through engine trouble. The machine stuck in the mud and an hour was occupied in extricating it. Afterwards the airmen flew to the air port at Atlantic City. Captain Lancaster said they intend to fly to the naval air station at Hampton Roads to-morrow to have the motor thoroughly repaired. Then they will prceed to Bermuda.
