Mr. R. M. Turnbull, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland this morning. Mr. C. E. MacCormick, judge of the Native Land Court, left by train last evening for the South. Professor A. C. Paterson, professor of classics at the Auckland University College, left by train for the South last evening. Mr. Frost, of Tuakau, went South last evening to attend a meeting of the Scientific and Industrial Research Council at Palmerston North. The Rev. Father McGrath, Marist missioner, accompanied by the Rev. Father Spillane, left Auckland last evening for the South. Mr. M. J. Barnett, curator of the Oamaru Public Gardens, has been appointed superintendent of parks and gardens to the Christchurch City Council. —P.A. Mr. H. W. S. Davies, supervisor of the telegraph office at Hamilton, has received notice of liis transfer on promotion to Wellington. Mr. Davies has been at Hamilton for the last nine years Mr. Justice Frazer, president of the Arbitration Court, and Messrs. A. L. Monteith and G. T. Booth returned to Wellington on Sunday from the West (’oast. They leave on Thursday for Christchurch, where the Court will sit on Friday.
