ON HIM THAT HATH

TAXATION REVISED BY MR. JENKINS “Why should not the maximum scale of income tax be raised to the postwar figure?” asked Mr. H. R. Jenkins, United candidate for Parnell, last evening in St. George’s Hall, Parnell. Taxation and Customs revenue were tlie main subjects of his address, and he received a vote of thanks and confidence. The company tax, he urged, should be repealed and should be placed under an equitable distribution. If a reduction were made in the present customs duties and the* company tax were repealed, revenue must be raised elsewhere. The United Party stood for a fair tax for the great majority and no tax on those who could not pay, while those who could afford to should pay.
