Players and supporters of the Manurewa Soccer Club met at the residence of Mr. Clarke, 46 Marlborough Street, Mount Eden, on Saturday last. The occasion was to celebrate the successful season just closed, the club having won both the championship of the second grade and also the Pascoe Shield. The trophies were on view and also the cup given by Mr. Hands, of Manurewa, for the most consistent player. This was presented by Mr. J. H. Smith to Colin Lees, the popular centre-half. Occasion was also taken to present the sole-selector and trainer, Mr. J. H. Smith, with a silver-mounted pipe, case and pouch, on behalf of the players. The secretary, Mr. W. Clarke, spoke of the good work done for the club by Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith thanked the players for their gift and promised the club his assistance in the future, which lie hoped would be in the seniors next season.
