MURDER in FIJI. —An Indian was murdered in the Ba district, Fiji. His son has been arrested and charged the crime.—A.P.A. UNITED STATES DIPLOMACY.— An official has arrived at Paris from Washington to open a Press Bureau. He said that if it were successful the American Government would open similar offices in London, Berlin and Tokyo.—A.P.A. LO WEX STEIN’S DEATH. The examining magistrate at Boulogne announces that the inquiry into the death of Captain Lowenstein has been closed. He found that death was accidental. A certificate to that effect lias ”een sent to his family.—A.P.A. STRIKE AFTERMATH. —Acute distress is prevalent among the families °* Melbourne waterside workers as a Jesuit of the recent strike. An appeal nas been made by social organisations asking the public to shelter their children until normal times return. WOMEN’S EXTRAVAGANCE. Two women, whose extravagant living had brought them to the Adelaide bankruptcy Court, were sentenced to Mrs. Lena Walters, a Plasterer’s wife, was sent to gaol for one month, and Christina Orr, a hrmcr'a wife, for three months. Both collapsed on hearing their sentences. KILLED.-— A shocking mbtoring Ijragedy occurred near the town of Martinez, California. A car, driven by Mr. E. B. Hussel, and containing five ' v omen passengers, plunged over a f r Pf n dicular cliff and fell a distance 75ft. AH the six, who were residents of Berkeley, were killed. —U.S. HOUSE BOYS. —The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Sir James Parr, yesterday gave a farewell address to 32 boys and 6 girls, who are aoing to New Zealand under the Flock House scheme.—U.S.
