STEEL ARMOUR
GERMAN FIRMS PROTEST FRENCH ORDERS FOR ENGLAND (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BERLIN, Saturday. According to the “Lokal Anzeiger,” German steels firms are protesting against an arrangement that has been negotiated between British and French steel firms, under which the British firms will supply armour plate for French warships, while the French lirms will supply the light steel required for British warship construction. The German firms raised the question at a meeting of the steel cartel. The French replied that war material was excluded from the restrictive clauses under which the combine acts. The Germans argued that this exception did not apply to war material produced for export.
