TWO BRIGHT RACES
AMATEUR RUNNING HELD AT CARLAW PARK DISAPPOINTING FIELD IN SPRINT League fans at Carlaw Park on Saturday afternoon had a refreshing change of sport when two amateur running events were decided half-way through the football programme. Both races—a 100 yards and a half—were interesting, but there was a “Appointing field of three in the sprint. The limit man was not troubled. Auckland’s distance champion, J. W. fcavidan, could not catch the handicap m *n in the 880. A schoolboys’ sprint, with two heats, "as also decided. Pie was two feet „ fr <mt at the finish. Elliott had caught U P very little on the leaders. 880 YARDS HANDICAP C. BARKER (20yds) 1 A. CRUM HOvds) 2 “■ G- KIRKWOOD (20yds) 3 Time, 2min. sec. barker ran well and won by »«ven yards. Crum was five feet * n front of Kirkwood. J. W. Savidan, -cratch man, could not reach the leaders, finished two yards behind Kirkwood, *a*ing up.
